Immune System

Dictionary.com defines our immune system as “a diffuse, complex network of interacting cells, cell products, and cell-forming tissues that protects the body from pathogens and other foreign substances, destroys infected and malignant cells, and removes cellular debris: the system includes the thymus, spleen, lymph nodes and lymph tissue, stem cells, white blood cells, antibodies, and lymphokines”.
If we choose not to maintain a healthy immune system, we can encounter the following “common autoimmune diseases”: Flu, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Type 1 diabetes, Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), heart conditions, and various infections. Our medical physicians encourage us to maintain a healthy immune system by taking Vitamin A, vitamin B-12, and selenium (according to one’s individual doctor’s prescription); to get sufficient rest, control stress levels, maintain nutritionist eating schedule, ongoing fitness ritual, and enjoy life. Before we can keep our physical immune system healthy, we must develop and maintain our spiritual immune system.
Our spiritual immune system is rooted upon our belief and trust in the leadership of the Holy Spirit within. We must decide to follow His guidance in every area of our life. If we choose to ignore the counselor within eating direction, we can open the door for weight gain, body fatigue, anxiety attack, memory loss, and a day of doom. If we choose to ignore His words of wisdom, we can remain in unhealthy relationships, make bad financial decisions, and work jobs we hate.
Let us keep our spiritual immune system healthy and productive by trusting “ in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3: 5-6).
