Exercise Wednesday: Push-Ups

When we think of push-up, we think of military style formation, modified and off the wall.
Around mealtime we have become familiar with table push-up. (smile). This helps us to push away from consuming more food than needed.
As we continue to do all or some of the various ways to do push-ups, let us not forget to incorporate spiritual push-up and away.
What should we pus up and away from?
• People’s approval- “they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God” (John 12:43)/
• Worldly Friendship- “You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).
• Loose Lips-“But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness” (2 Timothy 2:16).
As we take the time out to engage in our physical exercises (push-ups), let us not forget to do our spiritual push-up and away by avoiding relying on the approval from others, depending on worldly friendship for survival, and engaging in excessive talking.
