Unity between our minds, emotions, and wills requires us to seek God’s guidance. Where we may miss the mark is when we ignore our emotional states. It is fine to quote the Scripture verse “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn” (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV), when we are feeling angry, hurt, bitter, jealous, and disappointed.
Before or after quoting the Bible verse, we need to seek the Holy Spirit to find out why or what caused us to feel the way we are feeling. God created us with emotions for a reason. If we do not take the time to research our emotional states, we will end up suppressing them without resolutions. Eventually, the feeling will resurface.
Suggestive ways to handle emotions:
Allow ourselves time to deal with the emotional states. Cry it out, pray, and talk to God about the situation.
Deal honestly with the uncomfortable emotions we are feeling. If we are feeling embarrassed, admit it. If we have wrong someone, go and apologize. If we have been mistreated, go to the person after seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance and let him or her know.
Maintain physical health, which is connected to our emotional health. Let us make sure that we are engaging in recreational activities, fitness routines, and eating healthy snacks.
