When we lay down to sleep, we either float right off to sleep or enter into deep meditation over every thought (good/bad) that are lingering within our minds.
When this happens, let us overcome this battle by deciding in advance how to deal with these sleeping disruptions/blockers. Make sure our sleeping environment invites a sleeping atmosphere. How? Are our sheets and nightwear sleeper friendly? Did we turn off all electronic devices? Yes, cellphones, computers, and tv. Did we calm down before lying down (engage in deep breathing, meditation, Scripture reading, prayer or play some soothing music)?
