Bed Rest

Those two words are often frown upon. To some of us bed rest means we are dealing with health issues, sleepless nights, or surgery recuperations. When we are on vacation, we feel guilty for sleeping in late, since we are so afraid of not using our vacation time wisely. Instead of viewing bed rest as necessary and as a negative health benefits, let us look at it from a perspective of the health benefits of sleep.
Getting the proper amount of sleep (know your healthcare needs) boost our immune systems and makes us feel and look better. It helps to benefit our hearts, mind, and weight management. A good night sleep improves our memories, enhances our lifespans, and helps prevents inflammation. Getting more than six hours of sleep per night, reduces our risk of heart attacks and strokes. Rest improves our overall performance, personal and professional.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 8: 28-30).
