Essential Practice of the Faith: Hearing God’s Voice

Throughout our day, we hear voices. On the way to work, we listen to the voices on our radios through songs, announcements, or talk shows. In classes, training sessions, and workshops we listen to the professors, instructors, or motivational speakers. During our Bible study times are we listening and hearing God’s Voice?
Suggestion on how to hear God’s voice while reading His Word.
Seek the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Begin reading the selective passage slowly (keep calling on Jesus for insight).
When you sense the Lord is focusing our attention on a word, phrase STOP reading and seek the Holy Spirit for revelation.
When God speaks, remember all we have to do is ask Him what He wants us to do about it.
Remember, sometimes God is silent; sometimes he doesn’t tell us what to do. Let us not get frustrated. Thank God for this time, praise Him and repeat the steps when needed.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declare the Lord, plan to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)
